About Rebreather Forum 3
The Rebreather Forum 3 (RF3) was in session May 18-20, 2012, in Orlando, Florida. RF3 addressed the major issues surrounding rebreather technology and its application in commercial, media, military, scientific, sport and technical diving. Additionally specialists, experts, experienced practitioners, manufacturers, and ancillary companies representing a variety of communities discussed this technology and shared information.
The program included dedicated sessions covering topics such as medicine and physiology, closed circuit rebreather (CCR) orientation, business and operations, CCR familiarization, training, design and testing, and incident analysis.
Rebreather Forum 3 Objectives
To establish the state of the art of rebreather diving, and where appropriate, to make recommendations in the following areas:
- To codify the state of rebreather use, including issues such as ventilatory characteristics, oxygen control, CO2 control, automation, warnings, bail-out system, redundancy and backup systems.
- To review available data for accident analysis and avoidance.
- To review training and operational protocols.
- To examine considerations when conducting extreme exposure dives.
